The ScummVM Team has released a new version of ScummVM for tons of consoles and Operating Systems,
Heres the release details:
We can call it a tremendous development. Half a year since 0.11.1 passed pretty quickly, and we are pleased to announce the release of 0.12.0!
This new version of ScummVM adds support for 5 completely new games. The games that now run smoothly on many more platforms than was initially intended are: The Legend of Kyrandia: Book Two: Hand of Fate, The Legend of Kyrandia: Book Three: Malcolm's Revenge, Lost in Time, The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble and Drascula: The Vampire Strikes Back.
The number of supported platforms grew as well. The PS2 port has been revived, and the GameCube and Wii are now supported too. Take your Wiimote and make your beloved adventure game protagonist run around the screen .
For those new to ScummVM heres a description:
ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!
Some of the adventures ScummVM supports include Adventure Soft's Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2; Revolution's Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; Wyrmkeep's Inherit the Earth; Coktel Vision's Gobliiins; Westwood Studios' The Legend of Kyrandia and games based on LucasArts' SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system such as Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more. You can find a thorough list with details on which games are supported and how well on the compatibility page. ScummVM is continually improving, so check back often.
Heres the release notes:

Hi guys,
I recently completed a port a little while ago of the classic DOS game 'Sopwith' for the Gamecube.
For those of you who aren't aware, Sopwith is a little 2D freeware action game for the PC from back in the 80s that sort of received a bit of a cult following. In it, you fly a little biplane around blowing stuff up and trying not to get shot down (and also trying not to blow yourself up or crash. ).
Here's a link with the details which in turn has a link to the Google code page where you can download the source and executables if you're interested:
http://www.blarworld.net/software.html
Thanks,
Ben

News from Scognito
Finally today I decided to write a post for my next upcoming homebrew game for the Nintendo Wii and Gamecube: it is called Piero’s Wicross.
As the name suggest it is based on a popular puzzle game Mario’s Picross, a game based on an existing puzzle game called Nonogram.
For those who don’t know what game I’m talking about, here it is a brief description of the original game, from wikipedia :
Nonograms or Paint by Numbers are picture logic puzzles in which cells in a grid have to be colored or left blank according to numbers given at the side of the grid to reveal a hidden picture. In this puzzle type, the numbers measure how many unbroken lines of filled-in squares there are in any given row or column. For example, a clue of “4 8 3″ would mean there are sets of four, eight, and three filled squares, in that order, with at least one blank square between successive groups.
I swear it is simpler than expected!
The development of the game is nearly done for both platforms, so what the game really needs are the levels.
Since I’m too lazy to create them, I decided that levels will made by YOU!
Yes, I wrote also an online level editor for the purpouse, where is possible to easily create puzzles throught a simple interface, so what expect to write your own one?
The best 50 levels will be put in the game as official ones, so head over and write yours!
Go to Wiicross Level Editor!

I've really been enjoying the posts over at the Stephen M. Cabrinety Collection blog, even though it has one of the worst titles I've ever seen. Up recently was a look back at some of the licensed goods in the collection, including this box of the 'Nintendo Cereal System.' And yes, they tried some of the 20 year old cereal before gutting the box to save it for posterity. Eric Kaltman mentions some of the challenges that come along with attempting to preserve these bits of game culture

Here's my Gamecube mod. Inside is a Pico-ITX, 100Gig SATA hard drive, and Bluetooth recievers. I had also put a slimline slot loading drive in there but there was so little space inside that the motherboard overheated, causing the system to shut down after about 40mins.
You can also see an Apple Wireless keyboard and Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse. The display is a 19" BenQ FP93V.

If your Gamecube has problems loading disks, it probably comes from a defective lens. Replacing your old lens with this one will solve your problem.

News from John Reder
This is my second GameBoy Advance game done in a little over 50 hours of development. Pocket Raider was inspired by one of my favorite 8bit era video games Will Wright's 'Raid on Bungling Bay' (1984). This game has 9+ levels, each 88+ screens in size. You fly an Airship whose mission is to bomb all enemy Gun Turrets, Speed Boats, Tanks and Buildings to complete each mission progressing through the enemies backbone of bases, factories and finally their command center.

News via wiibrew
Tantric has released a new version of the Game Boy Advance emulator for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo Gamecube, heres whats new:
[What's New 1.0.0]
Now compiles with devkitpro r15
One makefile to make all versions
Complete rewrite based on code from SNES9x GX
Now has a menu! ROM selector, preferences, controller mapping, etc
Wiimote, Nunchuk, and Classic controller support
Button mapping for all controller types
Full support for SD and USB
Load/save preference selector. ROMs, saves, and preferences are saved/loaded according to these
'Auto' settings for save/load - attempts to automatically determine your load/save device(s) - SD, USB
Preferences are loaded and saved in XML format. You can open VBAGX.xml edit all settings, including some not available within the program
Features
Wiimote, Nunchuk, Classic, and Gamecube controller support
Custom controller configurations
SD / USB support
SRAM & State saving
MEM2 ROM Storage for fast access
Auto frame skip for those core heavy games
Notes from the Developer
ZIP/DVD/SMB/GameCube Memory Card support are NOT implemented yet. The current build does NOT have adjustable frameskip. Frameskipping is set to 'AUTO' and cannot be changed. While speed is generally near perfect, sound tends to rebuffer as a result of frameskipping, so in-game music may suffer as a result, sounding like a CD-skipping. This does not occur with Gameboy Color games or original Gameboy games, which do not use the frameskip function.
Installation
If you are using the Homebrew Channel just copy the apps directory from the archive to the root of your SD card. If you are using another loader use the executables/vbagx_wii.dol.
ROMs & saves files should be stored in vbagx/roms and vbagx/saves on the root of your SD card or USB flash drive. You can copy the vbagx directory from the archive to your support drive. Your ROMs must be in ".gba" format.
Launch the emulator using your Loader.
