Sixtyforce v2.0 beta 1 is released. Sixtyforce the Nintendo 64 emulator for the Mac. It does this by dynamically translating the code that a Nintendo 64 uses into something your Mac understands. Nearly every part of a Nintendo 64 has been painstakingly recreated entirely out of software to pull off such an amazing feat.

Nintendo Switch: melonDS build with working JIT support released

Nintendo DS emulation on hacked Switch consoles isn’t anything new and it’s been around for over a year first with DeSmuME-NX and then melonDS. Up till today, melonDS could run some less demanding titles at fullspeed provided you overclocked your Switch to 1.5/1.7GHz but doing this reduced battery life and generated extra heat which would undoubtedly shorten the battery’s lifespan. As a result, the only realistic way to emulate DS games on the Switch was through DraStic on Android but now, that’s changed thanks to catlover007’s work!

Catlover007 has been working on writing a DS JIT for the Switch for quite a while and now, he’s released the first public build of melonDS with an ARM64 JIT and NEON GPU optimisations. According to the release post, his build of melonDS allows you to run most 2D games at good speeds and even some 3D titles like Pokemon HG without overclocking. While this build provides better performance than other melonDS for Switch releases, it doesn’t have the regular UI so controlling it might be a tad more annoying but it’s certainly doable.
Shrimptacular on Reddit has tested numerous DS games on this build and he’s confirmed that the following titles work properly:

Blizzard cancels Overwatch live event at Nintendo World in New York

With Overwatch arriving on Nintendo Switch today, developer Blizzard Entertainment has cancelled its New York launch event at Nintendo World.
The move comes amid growing dissent among fans after Blizzard suspended Hearthstone pro player Chung "Blitzchung" Ng Wai over his post-match interview comments supporting Hong Kong protesters.
Blizzard originally planned a live meet-and-greet with some of the game's voice actors, but cancelled the event with only a day's notice, offering no explanation.
Since banning Ng Wai from professional play for 12 months, and confiscating his winnings, Blizzard has come under intense criticism from fans and commentators for it's apparent support of Chinese censorship.
However, the company has since dialled back its punishment of Ng Wai, reducing the ban to six months and returning his winnings from the Hearthstone Grandmasters tournament.

Switch Release: No DOF Blur mod for TLZ: Link’s Awakening Released

If you’ve seen screenshots of TLZ: Link’s Awakening, then you probably noticed the Distant Blur effect present in the game when roaming around outside. On the internet, opinions about the blur vary wildly with some people loving it and others hating it but thanks to the Switch hacking scene, the blur can be turned off with a recently released mod!

This mod, which is called ‘No DOF Blur’ and was developed by MelonSpeedruns, fully removes the distant blur effect present in the game while leaving everything in its original state therefore making individuals who dislike the blur happy. To make use of this mod, you have to:

• Download it from here
• Extract the ZIP file you downloaded and place the ‘atmosphere’ folder on the root of your SDCard
  • You obviously need a hacked Switch running Atmosphere to use this mod
  • If you’re emulating the game on Yuzu, rename the ‘01006BB00C6F0000’ folder found in the ZIP file to ‘No DOF’ and place it in “C:\Users\{Your Username}\AppData\Roaming\yuzu\load\01006BB00C6F00 00\”
• Reboot your console or re-open Yuzu
• Enjoy TLZ: Link’s Awakening without the blur!
• Unfortunately, users have reported that the mod doesn’t alleviate any of the game’s performance issues so don’t install this mod with the sole intention of improving your frame rate

Changes

merged latest upstream changes (4.2.1+);
rebuilt with latest libnx (9.0.0 support).

Installation and running

Unzip the attached ZIP file to the switch folder on your SD card.
Place at least one supported IWAD (e.g. doom2.wad) into gzdoom/iwads/.
Run GZDoom Launcher from hbmenu.

Known bugs

When you exit the game via the Quit option in the menu, something doesn't deinitialize properly and the next homebrew you run will crash, unless you exit and reenter hbmenu.
Startup takes a while.

Notes

Launcher controls:
D-PAD: navigation
L/R: change tab
A: activate option
B: cancel/exit
X: reset option
PLUS: start game
You can technically place the game into any subfolder in sdmc:/switch/, as long as the gzdoom folder is next to gzdoom_launcher.nro.
Any custom files (PWADs, PK3s, DEHs, LMPs, whatever) should be placed into the gzdoom/pwads folder.
The launcher has predefined default profiles for most supported IWADs. You can also add your own profiles by pressing Y on the main tab. Any changes will be saved to gzdoom/launcher.ini.
The launcher will only detect files in gzdoom/iwads and gzdoom/pwads. You can use the Override RSP file option if you have to load files from other locations.
Multiplayer does work, however only Switch <=> PC multiplayer has been tested. You can start a netgame from the launcher. Don't forget to change the player number from 1 and read the warning message.
The IP that's placed in the address field by default is your Switch's local IP, others can use that to connect to it if they're on the same network.
Only the player that hosts the game needs to set gameplay settings, however everyone has to pick the same set of custom files as the host.
Fatal errors are logged into error.log. You can also turn on logging in the launcher.

Cemu v1.15.16b released

• Yep, it's that time again - version 1.15.16b of Cemu, the popular Wii U emulator, is here and it's now available to the general public! This update is all about smaller bug fixes and quality of life improvements: the emulator should no longer freeze on shutdown (a rather well-known issue that would also lock access to the emulator's files and resources until its previous instance would get killed), swapping the TV & GamePad windows will only work when Cemu has focus, game updates' RPX filenames will now be read properly instead of being assumed from the base executable's filename (fixes an issue mainly affecting Wii Sports Club updates) and any previously created controller profiles should be listed again in the input settings window. The anticipated Vulkan renderer is still missing, yet again remaining exclusive to the patron-only v1.16.0 WIP builds for the time being.

Nintendo Switch sales in Europe pass 10m

The Switch Lite helped to propel hardware sales for the Switch family past the ten million mark across Europe.
Nintendo reported a 30% increase in hardware sales year-on-year in Europe, following the launch of the handheld-only model in September.
Comparing the performance to hardware sales at this time in 2017, Nintendo added that the figure was up over 40% year-on-year in Europe.
Since its release in March 2017, the Switch has helped shift 36 million Nintendo-published games in Europe, with the platform holder noting that nine of them have passed the one million sales mark.
Said titles are Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, both Pokémon Let's Go entries, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Party, New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, and 1-2-Switch.
In terms of third-party titles, Minecraft, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, Mario + Rabbids and Stardew Valley have all passed the 500,000 units sold on Switch in Europe, Nintendo added.

TWiLight Menu++ v10.0.0 released, now includes B4DS for all DLDI-enabled cards

• If you have ever been interested in running Nintendo DS games from your 3DS or DSi without a flashcard then you may have already heard about @Robz8's open-source menu replacement, emulator frontend and backup loader called TWiLight Menu++. However, it looks like the homebrew developer wants old and obsolete flashcard owners to enjoy a piece of the action too, as a new update released just today makes the tool able to launch itself and run commercial NDS ROMs on any DLDI-capable card, even those which never supported backup loading in the first place!
  
  You've heard that right, TWiLight Menu++ v10.0.0 bumps its included nds-bootstrap version (aka the homebrew back-end used as a loader) to 0.25.2, which now also features B4DS - a variant of the said loader able to run on flashcards as well as homebrew-only devices. The requirements are simple: all your card needs is either a built-in DLDI driver or patch (and, unless yours is very archaic, it likely has one or the other!). This means you are now able to run NDS backups even on devices such as the Datel Games 'n Music, Action Replay DS Media Edition, MAX Media Dock and other similar cards which had no backup loading support whatsoever! But it doesn't stop there: TWiLight Menu++ has been able to autoboot on some cards for a while now, however, this update can make it behave effectively like a kernel replacement, also allowing it to bypass pesky timebombs in the process. B4DS lets you change your system's default language, nds-bootstrap build and different save slots on a per-game basis too, which can prove especially useful if you own an imported DS that doesn't let you select your preferred language or if a game only lets you use one save file and you share your console with somebody else.
  
  However, there is a catch: B4DS is still rather new and doesn't support many commercial ROMs yet. Some popular games are known to work, like Mario Party DS, Kirby Super Star Ultra, Pokèmon DP/HGSS, Mario Kart DS, Chrono Trigger and Wario Ware D.I.Y., but do not expect every game to work out of the box yet.
  
  Not a flashcard fan? No worries. This version also comes with fixes for three games (SpongeBob's Atlantis SquarePantis, Ultimate Mortal Kombat and The World Ends With You) and widescreen improvements thanks to @Vague Rant's contributions. If you've been out of the loop, AP patches began being included since version 9.1.2 and, starting from v9.5.0, almost every AP-protected game has a built-in patch, with Kirby Mass Attack and Imagine Resort Owner being the only two exceptions.

bsnes v111.3 is released. bsnes is an emulator for the Super Famicom and SNES video game systems. The purpose of the emulator is a bit different from other emulators: it focuses on accuracy, debugging functionality, and clean code.

bsnes v111.3 Changelog:
Update 1: there was a minor issue with the Super Game Boy audio fix when using save states, so I posted v111.1 to address this.
Update 2: and another fix for the accurate PPU renderer, a slight sprite flickering issue in Star Ocean, so v111.2 is up.
Update 3: and one final fix, save state stability improvements when using rewind. It really only affected Tales of Phantasia and Star Ocean, but they're such great games that it was worth the effort. v111.3 is up as a result.

In celebration of reaching zero issues and zero pull requests on GitHub, I'm releasing bsnes v111 today.
